I asked Jerry Dodrill to provide a cover photograph for this issue for two reasons. One is that I am totally enamored of his images. He captures the vibrant beauty I see when I'm out delivering my newspapers across the county. I am in wonder of this place we call home. I want you to be lured by Jerry's image to find a road you've never traveled and slip around that turn to see what's on the other side.

The second reason is that we all talk about how stressed we are. Too much work... not enough money, etc. But there's joy to be had if we just look up from what we're doing! One of the ways to accomplish that is to take a ride or hike a park trail.

Whether you go east or west, you're going to find some surprises along the way. It's fun to pick roads you don't know and just travel down them. If you're insecure about getting lost, take a map and note the road names.

The road above is near Fort Ross on the coast. That's only 11 miles north of Jenner. Pick any road - any direction. You'll be amazed at how much lighter you'll feel after a joy ride.
